John Bromley

Managing Director, National Social Marketing Centre

John is the Managing Director of the National Social Marketing Centre (NSMC) - a non profit making social enterprise. The NSMC was originally set up by the Department of Health in 2006 and is the recognised international centre of excellence in designing programmes that help people adopt behaviour to improve their health and wellbeing. He has twenty five years experience in the UK and Europe, delivering policy and legislation change and the management of complex behaviour change programmes.

John has worked within the European Commission and European Parliament. He has also held senior public affairs and advocacy positions in a number of trade associations in Brussels and London. He worked within the Department of Health where, when he was Head of Health Promotion set up the Social Marketing Unit. He was also responsible for developing and implementing national clinical strategies on COPD and Liver disease for the UK National Health Service (NHS).

John is a keen motorcyclist and in his spare time he works for a public health charity, Riders for Health, which provides motorbikes for healthcare workers in Africa. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health.
